AUTOMOTIVE COOL - Change your Radiator Cap and be ready to take the heat!

Summer is just around the corner, that time of the year when we all shed out our heavy winter layers and wait with anticipation to soak in some warmth and sunshine. It's the time of the year when everyone takes to the streets-when traffic seems to escalate and
" Sunday drivers" are out and about seven days a week. You can feel the pulsing heat rising from the dark asphalt on the road and see its effects as people race to their air-conditioned homes, offices and cars in an effort to stay cool.

While the notion of heat conjures up positive images like summer sun and fun, or the steam rising off a hot chocolate on a cold winter's day, it can also mean trouble when the steam that we see rising, flows out from under the hood of our vehicle. This is a sure sign of overheating and a reminder of how crucial the cooling system is to the operation of your vehicle. During the hot and steamy days of summer, it's wise to make sure your automotive cooling system is ready to take the heat.

What's in a cooling system?
The cooling system is one of the most important configurations under the hood. It is also the most sophisticated segment of the engine. There are many interrelated components that must work together to ensure the efficient operation of your vehicle. If one of these components should fail, your engine can sustain serious, sometimes irreversible damage.

Most drivers don't realize the abuse that radiator cap endure. Extreme temperatures, dirty cooling systems have a damaging effect on the radiator cap and the overall cooling system. The radiator cap should always be checked every time you change the antifreeze or replaced after 3-4 years. The rubbers gaskets in the radiator cap can become warped by heat, crack, brittle, and deteriorate over a period of time. When things heat up, you won't be caught on the side of the road with steam billowing out from under your hood as you wait for the next available tow truck to come to the rescue.
It's time to inspect your cooling system and that's what we call "Automotive cool"
